Who judges the nomination entries?
All entries are judged by an independent panel of business experts and academics from relevant business disciplines.  The judges are chosen from professional consultants, university faculty, and industrial researchers with superior expertise and experience in the areas they are judging.  The judging panel is carefully selected and coordinated by the Chamber Business Awards Advisory Panel and our Chief Judge, Mr Howard Hinde, to ensure that the judging process is fair and objective, free of bias or influence.

How is the judging conducted?
Nominations will be judged on the basis of the information provided in the completed nomination form, site visit, product samples and supporting materials.  Entries are separated by award category.  The judging process is conducted in four stages.

What happens in the first stage?
In the first stage, the judging panel will evaluate the entry eligibility, completeness, thoroughness, appropriateness and general conformance to the award criteria.  Specific criteria may be weighted differently in different categories, at the judge's discretion.  The top eight entrants (semi-finalists) will progress to the second stage of judging.

How will I be notified of the first round judging results?

The organisers will inform, via email and phone, those organisations that have been selected to progress to the second judging stage.  Complete instructions will be provided to the entrants upon written notification (email).

The unsuccessful applicants will be advised via email.

What happens in the second stage?
The top eight businesses in each category will submit portfolios containing evidence pertaining to submission questions. The portfolio will serve as verification that all questions have been answered correctly and honestly.  Included in the portfolio will be business plans, performance indicators, marketing strategies and financial statements.  Judges may also visit websites, make phone calls to the business and/or referees if provided. The judges will assess and rank each portfolio leaving the four highest ranking businesses as finalists.

How will I be notified of the second round judging results?
Entrants are notified of the judging result prior to the public announcement of the finalists.  The entrant contact of all semi-finalists will be notified via email the week preceding the public announcements.

What happens in the third and fourth stages?

Site visits of the four finalists will be carried out by pairs of judges over a five day period. An hour should be set aside for the site visit with the judges.

The Chief Judge along with the Event Manager will analyse the final recommendations and either seek further information and clarifications, or ratify the judgment as final.

Businesses that exemplify the key principals of business excellence in their category will be determined as award winning.

If the final winner cannot be decided upon in any category at the end of stage three the Chief Judge will analyse and finalise the award winner.
